The success of this 10-year-old garden is
down to good
design, solid construction and sound management.
| KEEP IT SIMPLE~
you're on the path to long-term success as this flourishing
garden proves. Green Survival constructed the garden,
designed by Landscape Architect Jeremy Ferrier to complement
the 1974 Doulton Design house, a decade ago. Since then,
the contractor has played an ongoing role in keeping
the garden in tip-top condition. Green Survival carried
out the entire original landscaping work. This included
everything - demolition, earthworks, construction of
steps and masonry walls, paving, planting plus installation
of lights and an irrigation system. The construction
of large masonry walls surrounding the towering leopard
tree at the rear of the property was a major part of
the job and the fact that the structure is as sound
as the day it was built is testimony to the value of
using quality materials and skilled craftsmen. Because
the site is on a steep incline, irrigation was a concern.
Consequently, small one-way valves were needed for all
the microsprays at the bases of the slopes. Similarly,
all the concrete (approximately 100 cubic metes) had
to be pumped to the site. This is a fine example of
what can be achieved if a landscape is well constructed,
the design is simple, well considered and workable and
a long-term approach to mature garden management is
adopted. |
